To Do List 2016/17... Or Damn it's October Already???

I am a lil late with this.  Been meaning to get round to it, but you know how it goes.  You look up and say hey I can do that tomorrow and when you look up again it's been over a month...

So my last season didn't go as well as I would have liked, but it did help me get a few things done.  I got an army rebased, and my lair updated.  This year I am looking to be a little more consistent (Yes, I know I have said that before...)

So what do I want to put on my Hobby schedule this time.  Well it originally looked like this

  • Rebase my Dwarfs to KOW - This one is due, I was holding off to see what was going to happening with Ranks and Flanks.  But the South has firmly embraced KOW, and The game is a great game, So I might as well bring my dwarfs over to play to...

  • Finish an entry for Armies on Parade - Probably BeastClaw Raiders.  I got an idea that would probably look pretty slick.

  • Work on some more Malifaux - These are more painting projects.  But I do have the start of an idea for a NightStalkers KOW list using Malifaux Models.

  • Get my 3d printed terrain finished up and ready to play on. - We found a great store to play at near here called Goldmine Games .  But I'm sure there will be times we just play round the house.  So it would be nice to put all my 3D printed terrain to good use.

  • Finish up my Nurgle Forces of the Abyss for KOW

But this is what I put together and wrote down in August.  So a few things have changed.

  • I cant get off work for Armies on Parade, so no point in busting my butt to finish them in time.  So the BeastClaw Raiders are turned into a painting project, which has the added feature of getting me a AOS army to push around if I wanted.

  • FreeBlade....  Damn this game lol, Now I want to paint some Knight Titans...

  • And of course everyone's old school Favorite, Genestealer Cult.   I have always wanted an army of these and they just got released.

  • Free Space:  Cause I am sure something else will come up...
So let's see how this goes this time.   I think my muse is finally back after her walkabout.  So maybe I will get a few things done.

I feel Trolled...

So my muse has been out and about on another walk-about.  So I have been passing the time browsing around and recharging my hobby mojo.  I saw a rumor that GW was releasing another White Dwarf model since they old Monthly White Dwarf is coming back.   This is what they are releasing...

Really??,  a repackage of the plastic slayer.   They could have at least re-released an older version of the White Dwarf.   This is just disappointing.

Well I guess it is a dollar cheaper, so there is that...

Oh well,

I finished up my first unit for my Nurgle Abyssals.   It Doesn't quite hit the preferred model count, but I think it looks good.

Also I need to print a few more bases out.

KOW Abyssals in progress...

I finished up my first five Lower Abyssals for my KOW abyssal list.  Like I said earlier I am going with a nurglish scheme.  Since I have lots of nurglish things floating about.

I decided to try a tutorial I found online.  I found it on Dark Future Games  I replaced a few of the colors with what I had around the house and added a final wash to tie everything together.

Here are the links if you would like to read them.

I think it turned out pretty good.  I just need to sort out the basing and finish up the first unit.   Back to painting

Lower Abyssals, Nurgle Style...

Now on to some lower abyssals.  I decided to go with a nurglish theme, cause I have a tone of models that never got assembled for the end times.  I spent a few days assembling them and filling the gaps, since that the scheme I am going to be using will be alot of washes and drybrushing.

nurglings on a stick

shield holders for painting

So thats all primed up and ready to go.  I got a few things on order to finish this unit up.  I think I am going to use a city theme for basing.

Brutes done...

I finished up the Brutes this afternoon.

They turned out better than I though they would.

Brush Drop, Done

I went to GW and picked up some bases and a Warchanter for the next batch for Da Rusted Tusks.  A batch of Ard Boyz.   But for now its on to some Lower Abyssals for KOW

Brutes inbound...

It's been a bit.  I had some issues with my lamps.  The overhead I use is a old OTT light model, which the lamp burnt out on me a few weeks ago.  Just about the time I got the last post up and everything was working.   I figured hey no biggie, order a new bulb and keep on.  But OTT light apparently standardized their bulb connections and no longer make a bulb to fit my old overhead.

So it was off to find something to replace it.  OTT light dosnt make a overhead anymore, which kinda sucks but I found something that worked.

Woot and on sale to.  Speaking of which, Keep a eye out on both Hobby Lobby and Joann's  if you are in the market for lights.  They are always putting out 40-50% off coupons and Joann's has the OTT lights on sale at least twice a year.  Good time to pick up replacement bulbs too.

I spent a day or so designing a base in Tinkercad and Printing it out.  Filled it with lead fishing weights to counterbalance the top, and did a quick white spray to finish it off.

Yay, let there be light again....

I decided to work on some odd and ends while I was figuring out what to do about my light.  I picked up a box of the AOS Orruk Brutes to check out and play around with.  GW may have dropped the ball with the whole death of WHFB, but they still do make some awesome kits.  These models are very nice ance go together great.  Pretty much no gaps to fill, and look cool to boot.  The only downside is they will be a lil more difficult to kitbash and convert, due to the way the kits go together.  But depending on how you model that may not affect you.

Few assembled shots.  On a Tablewar unit tray

Basing started

I used the Shattered Sanctuary mold from Wargamesbakery

And cork...

Ballast mix

First steps, I kinda got carried away and didnt take to many WIP shots...

First one finished.

That's all for now.  I am gonna finish up the last four and get them based.  I got a unit of Lower Abyssals for KOW next.  Gotta get started on that if I am gonna try to get to Bayou this year.
